Jack Torrance, a former teacher, takes over the job as caretaker in the luxurious hotel 'Overlook' with his wife and seven-year-old son over the winter break. The fact that years earlier a terrible incident occurred in this house, when the former janitor murdered his entire family, doesn't bother Jack much. He finally sees the opportunity to write his book. But this book will never be finished. For the infernal, secret forces of the house take possession of him...
