Force It Limited Collector's Edition - 2 Lp Clear Vinyl

An album full of changes: UFO's "Force It" reissue Chrysalis Records continue their reissue series of UFO's catalog in 2021 with a 2-LP and a 2-CD deluxe edition of "Force It". In 1973 the Scorpions played as support act for the British band UFO when their guitarist, Bernie Marsden, dropped out for two concerts. UFO then asked Michael Schenker, the Scorpions' guitarist, if he could fill Marsden's role for two concerts. The then 18-year-old agreed, played first with the Scorpions and then with UFO. And after the end of the tour he stayed with UFO, although he didn't speak English at that time. With Schenker, UFO's creative phase began. He became the lead guitarist and soon contributed most of the compositions After two albums without Schenker and the first joint album "Phenomenon" in 1974, UFO released the album "Force It" in 1975, with which the hard rockers made it into the US charts for the first time. The album reached number 71 there, in Germany even number 35 of the charts. And that meant the worldwide commercial breakthrough. And there were to be more changes: "Force It" was recorded at Morgan Studios and Wessex Sound Studios in London. Ten Years After bassist Leo Lyons took care of the production. Chick Churchill, also a member of Ten Years After, plays the Fender Rhodes electric piano keyboard on the record, the first use of this instrument on a UFO album. Due to the unusual bright sound, the electric piano offered a new contrast, a novelty in the hard rock genre, which until then had mainly known the heavier sounding Hammond organ To top it off, UFO showed a new willingness to experiment on "Force It." They began to look beyond genre boundaries, exploring progressive rock and using odd time signatures, for example in the song "This Kids", which features complex 11 / 8 metering As album singles, the Brits released the songs "Shoot Shoot"/"Love Lost Love" and "High Flyer"/"Let It Roll". A total of six of the songs from "Force It" appeared on UFO's groundbreaking 1979 live album "Strangers In The Night", once again highlighting the album's importance in the band's catalog. The original cover was designed by the famous British graphic design agency Hipgnosis, as were almost all other UFO albums of the 1970s. It was initially very controversial, however, due to the nudity depicted, which bordered on a breach of decorum. The genders of the lovers in the bathtub were not known for several years. It later emerged that the models were Genesis P-Orridge and Cosey Fanni Tutti, both later members of the industrial band Throbbing Gristle. For the new deluxe editions, the album was remastered in 2020 by Andy Pearce from the original production master tapes. Bonus material includes the studio outtake "A Million Miles" and a live set recorded by UFO in 1975 at the Record Plant, Los Angeles. It is now released on vinyl for the first time. The double LP comes in a gatefold cover, the double CD is in a 6 panel digipak. Both versions include new cover notes written by Malcolm Dome. There is also a limited edition double LP on clear vinyl.
