On her sixth album, original Café Chicago member Patricia Barber offers a collection of slow standards that are just perfect for a rainy day. On this occasion, she gives classics such as Autumn Leaves, I Fall in Love to Easily, Bye Bay Blackbird and also Alfie an exciting side and shows what a full professional can still recreate even with such well-known pieces.
Theproduction is not overdone and thus allows her to fully bring out the melancholy in Barber's voice. Not every performer can rely so much on his voice to create a haunting atmosphere with it alone. And then it all seems quite simple! The title Nightclub is appropriately chosen. One actually feels transported to a nightclub with smoke and a bar singer
For our first 24K Gold CD release in eight years, we've collaborated with jazz icon Patricia Barber and Premonition Records to release her 2000 classic, NIGHTCLUB, in this format for the very first time.
Nightclub was remastered by Bernie Grundman at Bernie Grundman Mastering from the original analog tapes for enhanced warmth and musicality. The deluxe book-sized packaging includes a thick booklet that pays homage to the original Premonition CDs while updating them to Impex Records' high-end look.
The Limited Edition Impex 24K Gold CD Patricia Barber Series is manufactured at Memory-Tech's state-of-the-art facility in Japan.
