"Funky Nothingness," the working title Frank Zappa used for this project, consists of studio recordings from 1970, and this release is basically the sequel to "The Hot Rat Sessions."
Frank Zappa used a very reduced combo with Don "Surgarcane" Harris on violin and vocals. The music focuses heavily on instrumental and blues oriented material. This album consists of many unreleased tracks that Frank Zappa bypassed but kept in mind throughout his career. He just never got around to releasing them. Some of the tracks were almost included on the album "The Lost Episodes". 90 minutes of the music is mixed for the first time. The rest of the music was mixed and edited by Frank Zappa.
