In the fall of 2002, when even the guardians of high culture were suddenly musing about the phenomenon of "the" bands, the Detroit band that had started the trend was in the studio recording its fourth album, Elephant. A year later, this album, recorded in 10 days in the small Toe Rag studio in London, established Jack and Meg White worldwide. In England and the U.S., the brother-sister duo (?) has already been certified platinum and nominated for four Grammies, and in Germany the album made itself comfortable in the charts for 6 long months. The sound is anything but "superstar-compatible", but raw and simply honest. Although more than three chords, but still only two instruments. Even if the Spex single of the year 2003, "Seven Nation Army", may mislead some, a bass is not to be heard here either.
