Compositionally, McLaughlin infused his imagination into the film's script to create a rich blend of energetic fusion jazz and thoughtful ballads. He describes his composition process: "I mentally explored the various characters and situations and waited for my imagination to bring forth themes, atmospheres and emotional 'colors' that would reflect the drama and action." The resulting musical explorations lend the album a powerful, turbulent beauty reminiscent of McLaughlin's electric fusion classics "Inner World" and "To the One".

McLaughlin's sweeping electric and melodic acoustic guitar lines are impressively supported by the virtuosic performances of his longtime collaborators Gary Husband (drums/keyboards), Julian Siegel (saxophone), Misha Mullov-Abbado and Etienne Mbappe (bass). These experienced musicians ignite fireworks on pieces such as "The Scene" and show their sensitive side in the ballad "Nathaniel and Christine".
