Upward Curve The Recordings 1973 - 1976  Deluxe Box - 3 Cd

New 3-CD box set in gatefold sleeve from the acclaimed jazz-rock band Isotope.

Isotope was formed in 1973 by the talented guitarist Gary Boyle and originally consisted of Jeff Clyne on bass, Brian Miller on keyboards and Nigel Morris on drums. Clyne had previously played in Ian Carr's Nucleus, while Gary Boyle was active in Stomu Yamashta's East Wind.

Isotope's self-titled debut album was released in 1974 and continued the tradition of jazz-rock fusion established by bands such as Tony Williams' Lifetime and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Although their debut album was critically acclaimed, Brian Miller and Jeff Clyne left Isotope shortly after its release and were replaced by former Soft Machine bassist Hugh Hopper and keyboardist Laurence Scott. With this line-up, Isotope recorded the excellent album "Illusion", produced by Poli Palmer, a former member of the Family.

"Illusion" is considered a jazz-rock classic, was highly praised by critics and was Isotope's most commercially successful album.

When the band's last album, "Deep End", was recorded in March 1976, the line-up consisted of Boyle and Morris, Dan K. Brown on bass and Zoe Kronberger and Frank Roberts on keyboards.

This 3-CD box set has been remastered from the original tapes and includes nine bonus tracks from a 1973 concert for BBC Radio "In Concert", a 1974 session for the BBC television program "Old Grey Whistle Test" and four remixes from 2001.
