Before Al Di Meola released his debut album Land Of The Midnight Sun in 1976, he played in the famous jazz band Return To Forever. With this band he recorded three albums making him a veteran at just 22 years old. As a true guitar hero of fusion Di Meola knows how to capture the listener with complex pieces including a three‐part “Suite‐Golden Dawn”, a brief Bach violin sonata show and an acoustic duet with his former bandleader Chick Corea. With assistance of top bass players Jaco Pastorius and Stanley Clarke, keyboardist Barry Miles and drummers Lenny White and Steve Gadd, this is one of his best albums. Land Of The Midnight Sun is a very impressive beginning of Di Meola’s solo career.
