The Allman Brothers were there before them, but Lynryd Skynryd are the epitome of Southern Rock. The Allman Brothers were extremely talented musicians, Lynryd Synryd were full-blooded rockers who were rooted in their songs deep in the lifestyle of the southern states and the values of the working class. They brought everything together: blues, country, garage rock and Southern poetry. In the studio of Al Kooper, who heard it after seven years of searching the band for a recording contract at a club in Georgia, they produced a harsh and uncompromising album. Few debut albums sound comparable confident, vaguely familiar and then but totally unique. For the present LP, the eight songs on the album have been re-mastered from the original master tapes by Shawn R. Britton. From krachigen I Is not The One about the heartbreaking ballad Tuesday's Gone to the eternal classic of the band: Freebird - here none of the well-established title is redundant.
