McLean was already an established prestige artist when he committed
in 1956 trumpeter Bill Hardman for a shot. Together with Mal Waldron
on piano, Paul Chambers on bass and Philly Joe Jones on drums
Hardman sounds here are not as powerful as on his later
collaborations with The Messengers, but his style is already evident.
