With well over 20 albums in over 30 years I find it hard to find a Oregon CD special mention-but I "1000 Kilometers" worth an extra recommendation.
Firstly, the repertoire represented here really comes from all four band members, starting with Mark Walker to Yellowjackets reminiscent opener through to programmatically effect coat atmospheric "Bactrian" from the pen of Glen Moore, what comes to the variety of the disc to Good. Towner himself, from the yes originate most Oregon compositions this time has no "brute" à la "Pounce" or "Daff" contributed, but a few very intimate pieces that me with their Latin American overtones almost early "Winter Light" times remember. There are two pure duos and even a short piano solo piece of Towner.
Secondly, you have to highlight the fantastic, crystal-clear sound on this recording, for the (well-known also under ECM friends of many jazz productions), the German studio Bauer in Ludwigsburg responsible distinguished . Especially the ever-present but never superficial drum sound has to be mentioned, and I would even go so far as to say that this is the first Oregon CD production with Walker, who really dynamically the vibrant and multi-faceted performance of this exceptional drummer captures-who it has ever experienced live, know what I mean.
conclusion: strong buy recommendation!
